Apple Crumble
Warm, spiced apples under a buttery, golden crumble topping. Best served with custard or vanilla ice cream.

Ingredients
For 6 servings
- 6 medium Bramley apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
- 80g caster sugar
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- Juice of half a lemon
- For the crumble:
- 200g plain flour
- 100g cold unsalted butter, cubed
- 75g demerara sugar
- 50g rolled oats
- Custard or ice cream to serve
Instructions

Preheat oven to 190°C (170°C fan).

Toss the apple slices with the caster sugar, cinnamon, and lemon juice. Tip into a baking dish.

For the crumble, rub the butter into the flour with your fingertips until you have a mix of chunky and fine breadcrumbs.

Stir in the demerara sugar and oats.

Scatter the crumble over the apples in a thick, even layer. Don't press it down.

Bake for 30-35 minutes until the top is golden and the fruit is bubbling at the edges.

Let it sit for 5 minutes, then serve with custard or a big scoop of ice cream.
